We were apprehensive about cruising…!!! Sea sickness was a worry. So we decided to do a short cruise – just 5 days. And in relatively “calm” waters. We chose Royal Caribbean’s “Spice Of Asia” cruise. The five day cruise, departed and returned to Singapore and visited Kuala Lumpur and Penang in Malaysia and then onto Phuket in Thailand.
What a GREAT choice. We chose two interconnecting balcony Oceanview cabins and were pleasantly surprised with the size of the cabins. Moreover the balcony divider could be opened giving us one huge balcony across both cabins. Having two bathrooms was a bonus as both kids could get ready while the parents were doing the same. Similarly, a TV in each cabin gave both parents and kids a choice of viewing options. Not that we spent a lot of time in the cabins!! After dinner we came back to some “towel-art” from the cabin attendants!
There was a wide choice of entertainment options – from theatre shows to games at the pool, a separate kids games room, mini golf, rock climbing wall, basketball court, jogging track, ice skating rink, etc. etc. And all included in the price of the cruise.
The food….!!! And the choice of restaurants! Wow – amazing value with a choice of restaurants from Buffet to A La Carte dining to fine dining. There was also a “Johnny Rockets” fast food restaurant. The kids loved the free ice cream and free hot dogs at the pool!
The Cruise was a HUGE success. Not only great value for money – but also very calm waters as it was mainly cruising the Straits Of Malacca in sheltered waters. Sailing by night we awoke to a new city to explore each day! And we unpacked our suitcase only once. We are hooked on cruising!
