I think anyone with children will agree that travelling with them can be quite the challenge and not like the holidays we used to know and love pre-children!
This doesn’t mean that you can’t have a wonderful and relaxing holiday, you just need to choose the right destination that can accommodate all the things you need to make it easy. That is where we at East Burwood Travel and Cruise can be your fairy godmother and make all the plans and arrangements so you don’t need to lift a finger!
My husband and I recently took our young family (2 children aged 4 and 1) to Hamilton Island and we couldn’t have asked for a better break. Both Jetstar and Virgin Australia fly direct from Melbourne and other capital cities into Hamilton Island’s own airport which I am sure you will agree that not having to change planes in unfamiliar airports is the best news since sliced bread!!
Tick 1!
Hamilton Island has literally hundreds of accommodation options to choose from, whether it be a private tropical bungalow, apartment or hotel style you are after or an Adults only room in the Beach Club or the luxurious Qualia there really is something for everyone. For us an apartment was the best option as we wanted to be able to cook meals and put the kids to bed and still be able to sit up, chat and watch television without worrying about waking them so this was the best choice for us. The majority of apartments on the Island are privately owned so they are all furnished differently and can include different amenities so it depends what is important to you.
Tick 2!
We had a 2 Bedroom Apartment with 2 Bathrooms, a laundry, full kitchen and a lovely balcony overlooking Catseye Beach – what a beautiful view to wake up to every morning. Our apartment also included a Private Golf Buggy for getting around the island, a Port-a-Cot, Stroller and Baby bath so we didn’t need to worry about any of those heavy awkward baby items that are necessity when travelling with a baby.
Tick 3!
There are lots of different activities on the island for everyone to enjoy from water sports, mini golf, ten pin bowling, group fitness, visiting the wildlife park and of course who could forget the gorgeous beach and numerous pools. There is a kids club available for children from 6 weeks of age and must be pre-booked, a great option for Mum and Dad wanting a bit of R&R.
Tick 4!
Restaurants and Eateries are scattered throughout the Island with many different options to choose from, you can choose from Fine Dining options to Fish and Chips at the Marina and everything in between. But for many families the thought of eating out for every meal with children can be exhausting! So if you have decided to stay in an apartment on the Island and you have kitchen facilities a much more cost effective way to feed the hungry herds is to cook yourself in the comfort of your own apartment. Now Hamilton Island does have its own General Store which has quite a selection or food, drinks and amenities, however it can be a little on the expensive side. So I hear you ask “why would we bother to cook ourselves then?” and the answer to that is now Coles Supermarket deliver to Hamilton Island from the mainland, all you have to do is jump onto Coles Online and select your delivery time and groceries a couple of weeks prior and you will be set for a relaxing, reasonably priced, stress free family holiday!
Tick 5!
The whole family will love the fun, carefree atmosphere that Hamilton Island has to offer.
